RGB Cable works well with SNES

Posted by Tim Hoolihan on Aug 31st 2023

Works with my SNES. I`ll test a SNES JR after modding, but expect that will work too. Fits A/V port well.

    Great picture, great build quality

I have this going from a release-model Super Famicom into an OSSC, outputting through HDMI.

Colors are vibrant, image is sharp, and there is ZERO unwanted noise or interference.

The build on this cable is solid. Highly recommended!

    A Quality Cable

This cable is well-built and seems durable. I haven`t had any issues with unwanted static or noise from it. Not much more I could ask for from a video cable.

    Audio and Video Noise

Posted by Raikusu on Nov 18th 2022

The cable fits poorly and can become unplugged easily if the console is moved. The av connector pins are made of zinc instead of copper or gold which provides better conductivity. There is noticeable video noise and audio noise.

These cables are not fully shielded. Only the csync wire and L R audio wires are shielded. This leaves the RGB wires subject to noise. Also the wires are thin inside which makes them subject to more noise. These cables are not better than cheap generic scart cables you can find online. You should get a proper shielded scart cable that has each wire individually shielded and has copper pins instead of zinc.

I shipped this cable (and a Genesis 2 cable) to Insurrection Industries address after I emailed them about checking for defects in the cable because of the audio and video noise. They held on my cables for two months without checking them to see if they performing correctly. I kept messaging them for an update and they said that they were busy and will check them when they can.

After two months of waiting, they finally shipped the cables back to me. They said that the cables met "acceptable" noise standards. I don't see how noticeable audio and video noise can be considered acceptable. They were slow with testing the cables I bought from their website and did not always respond to emails I sent to them asking for updates.

Retro access have scart cables that are priced similarly but offer better noise cancelling and have copper pins. They also have better customer service compared to Insurrection.

    Gold standard in RGB cables

Posted by NuVanDibe on May 26th 2021

I've tried multiple RGB cables. This is the only one that has ZERO noise and gives the clearest signal I've ever seen. Behind my Retrotink 5X, I can't tell the difference between an original SNES and emulation anymore. If you can use RGB, you definitely want this cable.
