Battler GC vs. Blade GC - Differences?

The BattlerGC and the BladeGC are identical in almost every way, except for the location of the analog stick and the D-Pad. If Smash Brothers is your thing, you'll love the placement of the analog stick located at the top-left of the BattlerGC.

If you like to play GameBoy games, you may prefer the larger D-pad on the BladeGC.

Or, better yet, why choose? Get 'em both!

    Great Modern Solution

Great replacement or upgrade for the original controller. I have this and the Blade and feel this is better for traditional GameCube feel. Shoutout to Stone Age Gamer for great customer service, they replaced a faulty dongle I received without hassle, much appreciated!

    Nice Designed Controller

I got this controller a little over a week ago and so far it`s great! It has a nice design that fits your hands well. You can feel the quality too! Much better than most 3rd party controllers that I`ve come across!

    Great Budget GC Controller

Posted by Vladlust on Apr 20th 2023

For the price, this is a fantastic GC controller. It comes with both a dongle for GC and Wii, plus a second USB dongle for other devices, it pairs super fast and has a lot of useful functions like turbo and a turn off toggle, and even though it`s not exactly like an original controller because of the shape, the button layout is more than enough for it to feel like the original.

I give it 4 stars though since it doesn`t feel like a high quality controller because of the plastic it`s made off and how light it is, plus the ZR/ZL buttons are not optimal for certain GC titles. But for the price I can`t ask for much else, I wish there was a more expensive option though that was higher quality!

    Modern Twist on a classic!

Love this controller. Wavebird Controllers are getting harder to find in good condition, this is a great option. The Battler takes what worked with the Wavebird and GameCube controller and puts it in a style controller for a great price.

    Upgrading the Wavebird

Posted by Tairon Said Batista Leite on Mar 10th 2023

The BattlerGc fits a comfortable design, with good grip and practically zero input lag. For years, I’ve been using the wavebird, but it started to show problems with the receptor. With this new controller, I could be free of wires and, besides the cube, I could use it on my Nintendo Switch.
That’s the perfect combination of old times and new generation consoles.
The battery has a good duration too, about 10 hours of playing.
Hope you guys enjoy this hardware!

No longer confined to the cube

Overall a great alternative to both OEM wired and wireless (Wavebird) options. I haven`t noticed any lag in the time I`ve used it, and love that I was able to select a color that matches my GameCube Console. I`ve always been happy with Retro Fighters controllers, and this one doesn`t disappoint.

It`s the best wireless option outside of BlueRetro

Right out of the gate, it clearly feels like a third party controller. It`s nice but it does feel cheaper in the hands than a Nintendo controller - which it is. The weight is fine and the shape is good, but the buttons have a little too much travel, they`re harder to press than a GC controller, and they are very loud. The triggers do not have a click, but they are analog. They are significantly harder to press than a Nintendo-branded controller. The analog sticks work well, but they are stiffer than Nintendo GC controllers and generally have an intangible ``3rd party`` feel to them.

It`s worth noting that the fact that it`s slightly harder to press the buttons than on a Nintendo GC controller means that it`s significantly harder to do double button presses when you need to, like A+B or A+Y etc. Other than that, it works perfectly on the Gamecube and I don`t perceive any lag.

On the Switch, I don`t really recommend using this controller. It works ok and the dpad is fine, but the sticks seems to have a larger outer deadzone on the Switch than Nintendo controllers. This seems to be the norm with all Switch third party controllers.
